pencils, then to rico for a color comp, then ink. hated to lose the line-y quality of the pencils, but that woulda been too busy, i think, in ink. the black and white art is really just raw material for color; so i end up with ugly/confusing/heavy-handed/unbalanced originals in order to get more, uh, elegant color solutions on the finished comic.
